About

About Stitchpaper

Stitchpaper is a free cross stitch pattern maker that runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, no paywall, no watermark, and your photos are never uploaded anywhere.

Who makes it

Stitchpaper is built and maintained by Taro Schenker, a software developer and web publisher who writes the code, the guides and the comparison pages on this site. It is published by Known by One, LLC, a Delaware company, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States.

Why it exists

Most free pattern makers either upload your photo to a server, cap the free tier, or produce charts full of single-stitch confetti that nobody wants to stitch. Stitchpaper was built to do the conversion on your own device, keep every feature free, and give you the tools to clean a chart before you print it: confetti removal, color merging, a real stitched preview and a legible tiled PDF with a DMC key.

What it is honest about

Open roots

The thread dataset comes from PaulMakesStuff's Python Cross Stitch project under the MIT license. PDFs are generated with jsPDF. The interface uses React, Lucide icons and the open fonts DM Sans and Fraunces. Third-party notices are at /licenses/. The starter patterns are original designs made for this studio.

Contact and corrections

If a guide is wrong, a color is mislabeled, or the tool breaks on your image, tell us on the contact page. Corrections are made on the page and the "last reviewed" date is updated.

DMC is a trademark of its owner. Stitchpaper is an independent project with no affiliation to DMC or to any tool named on this site.
